Want to quit smoking? Let us know!

Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in Canada. It can cause cancer, heart disease, diabetes and lung disease. In fact, individuals that smoke are 15-30 times more likely to be diagnosed with and die from lung cancer.

LungNSPEI and our community partners want to help people that smoke commercial tobacco to quit or reduce their use. The Community Advised Smoking Cessation project invites individuals from the following communities, aged 16 and older, living in NS and PEI to share their opinions through an online survey or participation* in a focus group/sharing circle:

· Lower income (i.e., household income of under $40,000 annually).

*Incentives are offered for participation in project activities: a $10 gift card for the survey, a $30 gift card for the one-hour focus group, and a $50 gift card for the 2+ hour sharing circle.

Smoking rates can be two or more times higher in the above communities than in many other Canadian communities. Through this project, members of the 2SLGBTQIA+, First Nations, or lower income communities can voice their opinion on what their communities need to help people quit smoking or reduce their use. Ideas and feedback will help us and our partners co-create smoking cessation programs specific to each community. We need your input!
